Guess what today is? The first official day at home for the summer. I say first official day since last week was the last week for Dawson to be in school. This weekend we were busy stuffing our faces and enjoying being around family. So today marks the first day to be home. Which means I better have something planned or it's going to get real old quick.
So I think I told you all that I had some activities up my sleeve and "camp" for us to do at home. Of course, I found this idea off of Pinterest. MANY people have created their own camps at home and have done a fabulous job as well. So naturally, I searched for some inspiration and ideas.
I am a mom of a boy, so this will be geared more towards him. However, if you were like the 3 of us growing up, we not only participated in girl stuff, but we learned just as much stuff "boys" would do too. But really who's to say it has to be "boy" activities or "girl" activities. Why can't it just be "activities"?
Follow me this week and this summer for that matter along with our themed Summer Camps I have planned for us. I am only doing three days during the week. That allows for "field" trips or days that you may not be home, or maybe you want a pool day too. I firmly believe that at least 1-2 days out of the week children need a day to themselves to play. That means no iPad to entertain them. We plan on doing some school work too, so we don't get behind. So I have that on our schedule as well.
I haven't fully done a daily schedule, but I am working on that for us too. That way we will have a routine and know a round about time to spend on camp, versus school, versus chores too. I also don't want to wake Dawson up at the crack of dawn either; it is summer after all. Plus, this momma enjoys her coffee in silence in the morning too.
This week is LEGO WEEK. If you don't have lego's that's ok; you can change yours up to building blocks or Lincoln Logs.
Day 1 consist of:
I found many resources online that I could generate a word search, a maze and a dot to dot as well. So when you see these I did not sit and do these individually by hand. I used a generator online. You can too, just search for the generator you need or want and see what you come up with.
Download the FULL packet of Summer Camp Week 1, Day 1 HERE. This packet contains 2 extra activity sheets to go along with the "schedule".
Stay tuned for Day 2 and then at the end of the week I will show how our first Summer Camp went! Want more to add to your schedule? Search Pinterest, you won't be disappointed!
What are your plans for the summer? Do you have big plans for your kids?
