This time of year makes me want to raise the blinds in the house, get some deep cleaning and cleaning out done. What about you? I am ready to put away the sweaters, break out the bold colors for Spring and plant some flowers!
While it is still March, this is Alabama, and we will be sweating and complaining before we know it. I have plenty of great ideas and good intentions when it comes to doing things outside and planting flowers, but those ideas don't always come to fruition. I look at Southern Living and Pinterest and just wish that my home or porch could look like it came out of a magazine. While I try to keep things simple and try not to conform to what everyone is doing, I do like new and fresh things. For example, I bought an old quilt last year at a barn sale, but not one I would use on the bed. It is the kind that would look good on a porch swing or over a rocking chair. I have neither of these things and also a small front porch, so it's time to get creative...which is not my strongest point. I believe I have the desire to be minimalists, while still having the things that I want. I'm not sure that is possible, or if it even makes sense.
I am still trying to get Sloan's bedroom decorated and organize his closet. You just can't do much with a small closet, that is full of clothes. At least it's hard to when it is full of random things because there is nowhere else to put it. Proper shelving, as well as storage tubs, would probably make a big difference, but that costs money that I don't want to spend. The nursery is another story. It still looks like it did when it was Sloan's room. Since we aren't finding out the gender of this baby, I'm not planning on doing much to the room before baby gets here. If you know me, even afterward it probably won't look too much different, except bedding, maybe.
Here are some before and after pictures of Sloan's new room.
So not much has changed on the last picture, and the closet still looks the same, yea one thing at a time.
I know it doesn't look anything like Pottery Barn kids but hey, at least there is something on the wall now. Maybe Sloan will think it looks cool enough to sleep in there now?
What areas of your home do you struggle with keeping clean? Do you wish you had more creativity in areas?
