You know when I was in college going through my art classes and photography classes, I would take my camera everywhere with me. I would have projects constantly, so it was required. I also just got in the habit of seeing something different in everything I saw. "Frame Worthy" if you will. Now, I do good to remember to take pictures with my phone, much less run around with my camera bag attached to me. I miss out on so many things and "I wish" moments.
This weekend was one of those moments.
Let's back up about a month ago. All three sisters are getting ready to all go out on three different roads trips and we all 3 get a text, "Guess what we did?!" the text had a picture with it as well. Well the dad and his then GF secretly got married and shared with us all. It was perfect, though, and we couldn't be more happy for them both.
Fast forward to this weekend we decided to throw a dinner party along with LOTS of help and our new extended family. It was a full house, and it was great seeing everyone come out to support our new found family. During the holidays our family threw them a small "party" on New Years Day so we could just include everyone at once since we were already doing Christmas at that time too. The timing was perfect and our Aunts did a wonderful job of celebrating their new marriage.
Throwing/hosting a party is a lot of work. We could not have done it without those wanting to help and pitch in, in every way. Whether it was for tablecloths, plates, BBQ, cobblers and anything else, we are so very grateful in every way.
Needless to say by the time it was all said and done we were all hobbling around from being exhausted and walking on the concrete floor. I woke up and felt like I had been riding horses all day, super bow-legged. Sister #2 said she couldn't sleep because her body hurt too bad and sister #3 and her husband drove home, got up Sunday morning and ran a race. Not just any race, a special needs race, so they were pushing some pretty awesome kiddo's as well. She said they came straight home and crashed afterward.
Overall it was a huge success, dad and his new wife (KK) were overwhelmed too.
Thankfully, we always have a place to host dinners and other events we made need it for. Take a look! Or lack thereof pictures.
Our menu consisted of:
- BBQ Sliders
- Chicken Fingers
- Potato salad
- Green Mixed Salad with homemade ranch and thousand island dressing.
- Peach and Dump Cobblers
- Dirt Cake
- Ice Cream
- Sweet Tea & Lemonade
- Coffee Bar
That would be the lack thereof pictures, since you see no food....there is always next time!
