Usually, when I go to grab a snack, it is a granola bar or a cookie or sometimes fruit. Although, often, the fruit comes in last. The snacks come out of a box that I bought at the store. Like Sister #2 & #3, I am trying to make more things at home such as snacks, instead of buying the 2 for $5 snack isle.
If you didn't know already, sister #3 is an RD (Registered Dietitian). So naturally, we hit her up for a healthy meal plan. As I have just recently received my meal plan and slowly starting to use it, I decided to try out one of the recipes on it. These oatmeal bites are surprisingly easy to make, and they do not take long at all either. After, making a batch of these, I decided to render the recipe a bit. They are mini granola bites really, and the kids will love them too!

Oatmeal Energy Bites
1 1/4 cup of old fashioned oats (ground)
1/3 cup of ground flaxseed
1/3 cup of chopped pitted dates
1/2 cup peanut butter or nut butter of any kind
1/3 cup of chocolate chips (ground)
Put the oats in the food processor along with the chocolate chips, pulse until ground somewhat. As the rest of the ingredients, mix and then roll into small teaspoon bites. Place on wax paper and place in the freezer or fridge to let it set up. Serving size about 3-4 balls. Keep in fridge.
Let us know if you try these, they are wonderful snacks and we promise you can't taste the flaxseed, if you were worried about that. I have a tin full in the fridge!
